Bride of the Pines is a bridal boutique in Aberdeen, North Carolina. This page explains what we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and who else sees it. If anything here is unclear, please get in touch — we would rather explain it than have you wondering.
What you give us directly
When you contact us — your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, wedding date, and whatever you write in your message.
When you book an appointment — your name, email address, phone number, and the details of the appointment you chose.
When you create an account — your name, email address, and a password, which is stored only in a hashed form that cannot be read back.
When you save gowns — the gowns you favourite and the Fitting Rooms you build are stored against your account so they are there when you return.
When you leave a review — your name, your review, a rating, and optionally your wedding date and the gown you chose. Reviews are published on the site after we approve them, so please only include what you are happy for others to read.
The style quiz can be taken without an account. When you finish it, we keep your answers and the gowns it suggested, so the boutique can see what brides are looking for. If you took it while signed in, they are kept with your account, where you can look back at them anytime. If not, they are not linked to you; your browser keeps a copy of your last results so you can see them again. If you create an account or sign in on that browser within a day, or save them from the results page, they are added to your account.
What we collect automatically
Standard analytics — which pages are visited, roughly where in the world visitors are, which site or advert brought them here, and what kind of device they used. This tells us which gowns and pages brides actually care about.
We also keep our own simple count of page views, so the boutique can see how the site is doing without relying on Google. It sets no cookie. To count returning views within a day without identifying you, your IP address and browser type are combined into a scrambled code that changes every night — we cannot turn that code back into your IP address, and yesterday’s code cannot be matched to today’s.
With each page view we also note the page you came from on this site and, for the first page of a visit, the name of the site that sent you (for example “Google” or “Instagram”) — never the full address you came from. This tells the boutique how brides find their gowns, such as how many come from the style quiz. It is not linked to your quiz answers, your account or your email address.
We do not use this to build a profile of you as an individual, and we do not sell it to anyone.
Cookies
Necessary cookies keep you signed in to your account and remember that you have entered the site. The website does not work properly without them.
Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, and to measure whether our adverts are working.
Advertising and usability cookies are set by the Meta Pixel, which tells Facebook and Instagram which of our adverts led to an appointment or an enquiry, and by Hotjar, which records anonymised visits (clicks, scrolling, and where people get stuck) so we can improve the site. Hotjar hides what you type and the contents of your account and sign-in pages, and the Meta Pixel does not report from your account, sign-in or payment pages.
Your browser can block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking the necessary ones will stop you being able to sign in.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of trusted services to run the boutique. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Cal.com — appointment scheduling and the confirmation emails that go with it.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads — measuring site use and advertising performance.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — measuring which of our adverts lead to appointments and enquiries.
- Hotjar — anonymised recordings of how the site is used, to find what needs fixing.
- Vercel — hosting.
- Neon — the database holding accounts, favourites and Fitting Rooms.
- Our email provider — sending confirmations, password resets and replies.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Advertising
We advertise on Google. That means we can see how many people who clicked an advert went on to book an appointment or get in touch, and we may show adverts to people who have visited this site before.
You can control the adverts Google shows you at myadcenter.google.com.
How long we keep things
Appointment and enquiry records are kept as part of our normal business records, so we know your history when you come back to us. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete it. Analytics data expires automatically after 14 months.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can close your account at any time. If you would like your reviews taken down, tell us and we will remove them.
Just send us a message or call the boutique and we will sort it out.
Children
This site is intended for adults planning a wedding or formal event. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
